5-Day Safari From Zanzibar to Mikumi National Park

DAY 1: Zanzibar → Dar es Salaam → Mikumi National Park

Your adventure begins with a morning flight or ferry from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam. Upon arrival, your safari driver guide will meet you and begin the journey toward Mikumi National Park. Enjoy a scenic drive through rural villages, sisal plantations, and stunning landscapes. Upon entering the park, you may spot wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, and buffalo along the way. Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon, check in, relax, and enjoy dinner surrounded by natural beauty.

DAY 2: Full Day Game Drive in Mikumi National Park

After an early breakfast, begin a full-day safari exploring the vast Mikumi plains. Popularly known as the “mini Serengeti,” the Mkata Floodplain offers excellent wildlife viewing.

Look for lions, elephants, impalas, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, giraffes, elands, and many bird species. Your guide will drive to different areas of the park where wildlife concentrations are highest.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at a viewpoint overlooking hippo pools before continuing your afternoon game drive. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

DAY 3: Sunrise Safari & Cultural Experience

Start your day with a sunrise game drive, the perfect time to see predators such as lions before they retreat from the sun.

Experience traditional dances, local stories, handicrafts, and daily life. Spend your afternoon relaxing at the lodge, enjoying the pool, or taking a short nature walk around the property.

DAY 4: Half-Day Game Drive & Return to Dar es Salaam

Arrive in the late afternoon or early evening and check into your hotel.
